Designer sandwiches
Posted on March 31st, 2007 at 1:05 am by Liefje

I really hate them. Those sandwiches that just look sooo delicious in the café but then are just the hugest pain in the ass to eat ever. I call them “designer sandwiches”. The people that make them try and make it look as appetising as possible but when you try and eat it it’s just a mission doomed to fail. The ingredients fall out, they’re not evenly distributed throughout the sandwich, you need to work really hard to get the satisfaction from eating it that you originally expected… the list goes on. Damn you designer sandwiches!

Retaliation to HoC Robbery
Posted on March 28th, 2007 at 4:16 pm by Liefje

Recently there has been an article released regarding a burglary that happened at the Home of Chrome (HoC — the gaming house I lived in last year) and it seems to have upset some people. The comments are getting out of hand and some of them are just retarded. But besides that, i’ve been getting bundles of messages with people threatening me (!!) with various things and calling me stupid names. Here’s a few points about what happened that some people seem to be quite confused about:

Retail therapy
Posted on March 25th, 2007 at 3:22 pm by Liefje

I have been “afk” for a while and part of the reason is that because the internet connection out here in the forest is pretty unstable and sometimes it will let me open websites, sometimes it won’t. It can be frustrating! But I haven’t really been sitting around in “soft pants” (Stermy calls comfortable pants you wear at home “soft pants” and in Sweden they’re called mjukisbyxor) playing UT CTF pickups all day every day… most days only!

This is what’s outside the door! I told you i’m in the woods!

Yesterday I got the news that I can move into an apartment on the 2nd or 3rd of April.. so next week, yeaah! Although it’s good news, I can’t help but think about all the things that come with moving. After just moving a month ago I can picture all the building of furniture and other crap that comes with it which we did just a short year ago. Bleh!!

I went to IKEA yesterday to suss out some possible furniture options. IKEA is just crazy. You could buy almost everything you ever need. They even sell food there (and i’m not talking about the cafe). The IKEA I went to was one that i’d never been to before as there is two in Stockholm and a different one was closer to our old house. This one was bigger and I dare say better. The layout was in some crazy circular style with “sample rooms” on the exterior of the circle and when you walked in to the middle bit you can see other furniture they have on offer that hasn’t been put in a setting. Anyway you basically walk down the store in a spiral of spending doom.

Which nation has the best gamers?
Posted on March 19th, 2007 at 7:13 pm by Liefje

Since moving to Sweden i’ve often wondered why it’s always so much harder to qualify for a tournament such as the Electronic Sports World Cup for certain nations in certain games. As some of you may or may not know, when i’m not sitting on my ass playing games or watching youtube (it’s like crack I tell ya!) I write for a website called Gaming Junky and this topic really interested me so I wrote an article about it! I covered the games of Quake World - Quake 4, Unreal Tournament 99 - Unreal Tournament 2004, Painkiller and I have also briefly touched on Counter Strike 1.6 and Starcraft.

Click the image above to read the article and I hope you all enjoy it! I really can’t stress enough that when I was writing this article I only took in to account 1 versus 1 international tournaments. Many Quake 2 players have whined to me saying that the statistcs are borked and that Finland, Poland and Sweden deserve many more medals but that’s for tournaments like the European Dual League which pretty much speaks for itself that it’s European only… I was looking at tournaments that was attended by at least both  European and USA players!

New speakers!
Posted on March 16th, 2007 at 11:49 pm by Liefje

Today I had to take my monitor back to webhallen (to get it repaired) and I wanted some new gadgets to play with so I picked up some Logitech z-5400 speakers while I was there. The box was huge and it was super heavy so I wondered if they were going to be gigantor and I was worried that I wouldn’t have space for them in my new little apartment.

Well the speakers themselves were of reasonable size but the sub is much bigger than I expected! And it comes with this sweet little control panel… it’s got lights and everything ;) hahaha. I don’t really want to give too much away about them because soon my new video camera will be coming in the mail and I would like to do a video review on them. They were recommended by many people and I must say, they weren’t wrong.

On another note, I heard about something very sad today…

The mysterious masked gamer

This interview is pretty old but I have been looking through mine and Alana’s old video footage and this was too good to be gathering dust in the archives.

Guess who! Click the image below to watch.

The old iCE cLIMBER apartment
Posted on March 12th, 2007 at 10:27 pm by Liefje

While the girlz 0f destruction had their gaming house in Stockholm, the legendary Quake 3 team deathmatch team the iCE cLIMBERS also had one of their own in Norrköping, Sweden. They have all recently parted ways (the team has not broken up, they have just moved to new places). In the apartment lived Johan “toxic” Quick, Frederik “Gopher” Quick and Magnus “fojji” Olsson.

Now I believe that toxic and gopher are still living in Norrköping in seperate apartments and fojji (who was previously known as fox) is living in Stockholm with his girlfriend (and my teammate) trito.

Anyway before they all moved out I got a chance to check out their gaming pad so click the cute little ice climbers above to view it! It’s also got an impressive display of all of fojji’s gaming trophies, something i’m sure you won’t want to miss ;) Oh also, please remember that this was made just a few weeks before fojji himself moved and the Quick brothers had already packed up and gone….. so it’s pretty empty!
