Broken monitor

Soon after leaving the gaming house, there was one thing that I was relieved about - I didn’t have to buy a bunch of new gaming gear! Since i’m not moving countries I could take a badass CRT monitor with me. That monitor was the ViewSonic UltraBrite E92f+ and I liked it because the external colours of the monitor were matching with my PC.
Just 10 days after using this monitor though (it’s less than 6 months old) it’s breaking on me! The problems really just sound like display adjustment problems but I can assure you they are not, the details don’t really matter. Anyway so I was very frustrated with this monitor and after some research I found that many people also could not get this monitor to work properly.

Oh Dear!
So i’m doing a little bit of research now about gaming on TFT monitors. To buy a new CRT is actually quite a mission, they’re just not easy to find anymore!

i30 coming up
Posted on March 7th, 2007 at 2:05 am by Liefje
In the beginning of next month there will be a big LAN held in England. It is part of the i-series and will be i30. There is going to be a Quake 4 tournament with 16 players invited and slots available for up to 64 players to participate. Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner will be there for shoutcasting and coverage, despite his “retirement” from gaming last year due to his wife having another baby. Paul is one of my favourite shoutcasters and one of my favourite people in gaming so his retirement was really felt by a lot of people… so it’s great to see a little bit of action from him.

Go team UK! (ESWC ‘06)
I have never been to an i-series LAN before but I hear they’re big on Unreal Tournament (despite there not being a UT tournament this time) so I guess when Unreal Tournament 3 comes out then i’ll most definitely be going to one of them.

Goodbye gaming house

I know i’ve been pretty bad with keeping my site updated but if you keep up with the professional gaming scene (especially the Quake 4 one) then you will know that it was at the end of this month that the gaming house where me and my teammates (the girlz 0f destruction) lived was closing at the end of this month. For the past year the house has been used as an eSports training facility where we had many top gamers come over and “bootcamp” or train at our house.
Around the beginning of February it was announced that the gaming house would not continue any more as our contract was only to be for a year with our sponsors, VIA Technologies. It still hasn’t quite sunk in yet that I will not be seeing these girls every day but i’m sure it soon will when I realize that i’m not laughing anywhere near as much as I should be!
It has been rough for the past week, the girls and I had to go through all our stuff in the house, throwing away what wasn’t needed anymore (like this retro 60s exercise bike that we acquired one night on an “operation birdmask”). We ended up with 30 - 40 giant trash bags stuffed full of mainly stuff that none of us could bring with us to wherever we were moving (and trash too of course… but it’s not like we’re total pigs that never threw away our trash so really most of it was stuff that none of us could bring). There was also a lot of furniture. The point is, the amount of trash we had was really abnormal. We ended up having to hire people to go to the dump for us since we didn’t have the time or the man power (it was just us girls + fooKi!) to take everything there.

Operation Birdmask
During this time we didn’t sleep much at all so it was a mission even just to lift a bag of recycling stuff haha. We took 6 huge trash bags full of bottles and cans to be recycled and we looked so funny carrying it all through the shopping mall (the recycling place was in the mall, haha).
So now the girls have all went to different places. Jamie moved back to California in December last year, Therese is now living with her boyfriend and Alana will be travelling for a month or so before settling in the UK. I myself will be staying in Sweden but am at a friends place until I can move in to my new apartment. Then it will be IKEA constructing all over again! Ahhh! Anyway now that I have kind of settled you can expect more updates, more video blogs and of course more articles i’ll be writing for Gaming Junky, so stay tuned!
