Today it was announced that the World Series of Video Games will not be continuing anymore. This is a sad day for me. While I have not attended a WSVG event this year, I was at a few last year and many of my friends were playing in the Quake 4 tournament this year. I was hoping to attend the rest of the stops (LA, London and Sweden) but now I can’t! Despite that I don’t really play Quake 4 anymore since i’ve been focusing on Dead or Alive 4, I will really miss the people that do.
Now I won’t see some of my favourite people and although it probably hasn’t quite sunk in, I can guess that a lot of them will simply just not play anymore. There is 2 more months until the release of UT3 but who knows if they will be able to play at top level for that game? And who even knows if that game will be in tournaments? It’s a huge day for 1v1 FPS games and I really hope that things will shape up for them in the future.
To reminisce a bit i’ve found a couple of my favourite moments shared with some of the most fantastic Quake 4 players at tournaments:

Finding out the 15yr old Av3k is taller than me at Digital Life (NYC) 06

Alana, LeXeR and myself at ASUS Winter (Moscow) 06

Trying to be buff like toxjq (Jönköping) 06

Trito and I get romantic at QuakeCon (Dallas) 06
