New Zealand have made it to the football world cup for the 2nd time EVER! The last time they managed to qualifiy was 1982 and this year they did it by beating Bahrain 1 – 0.
Hilariously this is the All Whites (the name of the NZ football team) first win this year as they were on an 11 game losing streak. They have not beaten a top 50 team in the past 3 years, but have climbed up to the 83rd place in the Fifa world rankings.
Even though I think about other teams who didn’t make it through that would probably beat NZ (like Sweden) I am still really excited that they actually made it!
Go NZ!! I’ll be cheering for you.
