December 1st marks worlds aids day. HIV/AIDS has cut a destroyed lives across the globe. It infects more than 60 million people, leaving 14 million orphans in sub-Saharan Africa alone. But (according to the joinred website) a global movement to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, along with scientific breakthroughs in treatment, have reversed the momentum in recent years. For those living with HIV in Africa, just two pills at 40 cents a day can bring a recovery so miraculous it’s known as the Lazarus Effect. In the video below you can see how it works:

Another great AIDs cause that I would like to draw attention to is the Jimmy Choo 72 PEP campaign. Jimmy Choo along with the Elton John Aids Foundation have been running a contest recently called “You, your shoes and 72″ in order to raise awareness. Participants are encouraged to take a picture capturing “you, your shoes and 72″ – 72 symbolyzing the hours that you have to treat a potential HIV infection.
