When noctis sent me a link this morning I couldn’t believe it. IGN have launched a new service called “GameCrush” where you can pay something like $7 to play a game with a girl. This is how it works:
Men browse online profiles of women that describe themselves as either “flirty” or “dirty” and select one for a virtual date. For around $7, the woman will voice or video chat with you for 6 to 10 minutes. Women are then rated by the men. Higher-rated women receive more prominent placement and will end up earning more money.
LOL!! I don’t even know what to say about this. My first thoughts were “ooh how do I cash in on this” (sarcastically) but really I doubted that guys would actually pay for such a thing. I was wrong. Upon visiting the GameCrush website I found that it was down due to the overwhelming response.
The logic behind this idea is that it’s the same as buying a girl a drink at the bar. Essentially you’re buying the opportunity to chat her up. However that drink also contributes to her beer goggles, thus increasing your chances of taking her home. On xbox Live however I can imagine that it’s only an internet thing, no different than a camgirl. When are they gonna come out with some one-handed controllers?
Ok, time for me to undercut. For the low low price of $5 i’ll play a Quake Live duel with you which you’ll probably win. Heheh. (Just kidding, I’m easy, I give away games for free… can you believe it?).

In all seriousness, I can’t understand the stupidity of people that will pay for such a thing. It’s not really like buying a girl a drink, not just because of the reason that was mentioned but because the girl will immediately think the guy they are talking to is a pathetic individual. Thus decreasing attraction before they even get to have their 6-10 (quite a big difference) minute video-chat.

Wow… Idunno if I should laugh or cry though I believe the “10,000 inquiries in five minutes” is just bull****. So this is like a mix of sexcamgirls meets gaming or? Sad, just sad.
