What way does the dancer spin?
This has probably been all over the internet before reaching me, but it’s still something I wasted spent a lot of time trying to figure out today. Take a look at this picture of a dancer:

Which way is she spinning for you? Clockwise or anti-clockwise? There is no correct answer.
Depending on which way you see her spin tells you which side of your brain is most dominant. If you see her spinning clockwise then the right side of your brain is used most and vice versa.

The trick? If you think about which is the front of the dancer, you can get her to spin both ways without blinking.
The shadow could be of the front or the back of the dancer, depending which way you perceive it.

Neat huh? So do you see clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Clockwise
You Sir/Madam are the enemy of conufison everywhere!
I can have her spin any way I want, I just have to concentrate for a few seconds while looking at her feet. This proves that I’m a superior human being.
Why is there no correct answer? What about shadow?
she does spin both ways. What might help is if u see her going clockwise, perhaps do some math for a while then come back and she’ll be going counter-clockwise. If shes going CCW, then look at some pictures for a while and go back and she’ll be going CW
Yes, but I’m not talking about the silhouette but its shadow.
I found just what I was needed, and it was entertiainng!
the shadow direction is also based on your perception
No, shadow direction is clear. Question is what light position and dancer rotation would make it. I still can’t find light position making a shadow like this (well, maybe it even isnt a shadow) for clockwise rotation (with dancer jumping or not). You can?
hhaha yeah when I look now I can see the dancer going clockwise but the shadow going anti-clockwise.
Stands back from the kebyaord in amazement! Thanks!
Well, la di frickin da!
I’m out of league here. Too much brain power on dipslay!
