Alienware Challenge Week 1

Since I never really had time to post on my site about this, for those of you who don’t know I am doing the Alienware Backpacking Challenge, hence the lack of updates lately. If you’re interested in my travels, make sure to read my blog on the Alienware site as i’m updating it almost daily.

Week one is over and the submissions for each challenge is in. My stories of interest were the interview I made with Justin Wong, plus I have also interviewed Hawr1x, an incredibly passionate Czech gamer. Check it out below:

New Zealand’s first point in the WC!

I think it was a big day today for the All Whites as they got their first ever point in the Fifa World Cup when they managed to draw vs Slovakia.

Slovakia themselves are newcomers to the world cup since becoming an independent nation, and although neither team is expected to make it through the group, I think that NZ should most definitely count this draw as good news.

The funny thing is, Winston Reid, the guy who scored the tying goal from NZ (in the 3rd minute of injury time) was a newly discovered player. The coach found him back in March [2010] via the social networking site, facebook.

The Reid normally lives and plays in Denmark, but announced via a status update that he chooses to represent New Zealand.

Since this is probably NZ’s only point in this years World Cup (their next match is vs the defending champions, Italy), I figured it was post-worthy… plus the fact that Reid was found over facebook, lol

So… who do you think will win the World Cup?

Reading the news every day is kind of depressing, especially when reading about silly stories of things like the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. I don’t even know why being gay is an issue to anyone with problems like starvation and homelessness still floating around. Anyway I found a couple of funny videos of some military guys being silly.

“Created by Codey Wilson and his elite step team of volunteers. Don’t give us a hard time for this, please? We’re just a few good men trying to enjoy ourselves and get this deployment over with. No one is gay… that we know of. Not that there is anything wrong with that! (political correctness) As a young aspiring film maker I was forced to release this early due to our friend in Afghans high school lip sinked music video. You know you love it. Enjoy it. Spread it. Live it. Lastly, ignore the copy cats that will soon follow and keep your taste for original creativity. Much love from the east!”

The 2nd vid hails from Afghanistan, where they made their own version of Lady Gaga’s Telephone.

They should make this into their recruitment video. I’d join an army where this went down, haha!

Apple can’t take gentle ridicule

For many years, apple have poked fun at their Windows users through a series of commercials. But like a bully, Apple have no problem dishing it out but they can’t take it back. Comedian Ellen Degeneres chided the iPhone on their difficult to use keyboard among other things.

Apple demanded an apology… and got one!

I might be a year late with this one but it was too hilarious not to post.

Meet Stephen Quire, a guy who’s gained e-fame from the above clip (and 8 others on his brothers youtube account). He’s flipping out about his mother cancelling his World of Warcraft account. I can imagine that going cold-turkey in WoW warrants such a reaction, hah!

This might be one of the most useless things i’ve ever seen invented. A ~~super nerdy looking~~ guy has invented a t-shirt that checks your email for you and alerts you on the number of unread messages. For those email addicts who can’t stand not knowing how many penis enlargement mails are waiting for them in their inbox, then this is the toy for you:

All I can say is, ~~how the hell did he get a wife?!~~ i’d much rather have the Electronic Rock Guitar shirt.
